Children's Rights
Don't End at the Screen.
They Continue There.

Asia’s first non profit dedicated to children’s rights on the Internet

What we Do

At the PIIR Foundation, we work at the intersection of children’s rights, internet culture, and storytelling to reshape how India approaches digital childhoods. Our initiatives move beyond traditional “cyber safety” to create rights-respecting digital spaces.

Research & Resource Development

Our team develops practical manuals and research-backed literature on critical issues such as sharenting, digital data rights, and online trauma-informed pedagogy.

Policy Advocacy & Dialogue

We host India’s first national conclaves, such as Infantia and Juventica, to bring together policymakers and experts to rethink digital safety and children’s agency

Capacity Building & Training

We equip law enforcement, educators, and parents with the specialized skills needed to navigate children’s digital lives through programs like Safe Circuit and Project SafeNet.

Art for Advocacy

We utilize theater, poetry, and performance to address complex digital dilemmas, making the conversation about internet rights accessible and impactful for families.

Our Belief:
Rights Beyond the Screen

Children’s rights do not stop at the edge of the screen.

The internet is no longer just a tool; it is a core part of childhood, shaping how children learn, play, and form their identities. We believe that the traditional language of “cyber safety” is no longer enough to address the complex realities of platform influence and online harms.

Every child deserves a digital space built on dignity, privacy, and protection, as recognized under the UNCRC. Rather than relying on fear or surveillance, we advocate for equipping parents and mentors with empathy and capacity building to truly understand and support children’s digital lives.

WHAT WE DO

Making a Difference

Beyond our training sessions, we create the structural foundations for a safer internet by bridging the gap between policy and practice. Our work ensures that the digital world is viewed as an inseparable part of modern childhood where rights must be protected and celebrated.

Policy Leadership

We host India's first national dialogues, like Infantia and Juventica, bringing together UNICEF and law enforcement to rethink digital safety through empathy and agency.

Child-Friendly Policing

Through Project SafeNet, we train officers to decode youth digital culture—including lingo and viral trends—to spot harms and enforce laws with a child-first perspective.

Art for Advocacy

We use theatre and poetry, such as the plays Dear Parents and Nayi Reet, to help families navigate modern digital dilemmas through impactful storytelling.

Our Impact

Empowering Law Enforcement

Trained over 2,000 police personnel in child-friendly digital policing and identifying online harms like grooming and sextortion.

Supporting Caregivers

Conducted online wellbeing and digital parenting awareness sessions for more than 3,000 parents.

Equipping Educators

Engaged over 2,700 teachers through "Safe Circuit," a program focused on trauma-informed pedagogy and student digital behavior.

Leading Policy Dialogue

Hosted two National Conclaves in a single year, leading critical research and policy conversations with civil society and law enforcement

Our Intervention Roadmap

A strategic approach to protecting children’s internet rights

Phase 1: Awareness & Research

Analyzing children’s digital lives and internet culture in India to identify emerging harms

Phase 2: Capacity Building

Equipping police, teachers, and parents with the tools to move beyond surveillance toward empathetic engagement.

Phase 3: Policy Advocacy

Bridging the gap between grassroots realities and legislative change through national conclaves like Infantia

Phase 4: Rights-Respecting Spaces

Building digital environments focused on participation, protection, and dignity for every child.

Infantia

Infantia cemented the idea of children’s rights on the internet as the new lens for parenting, policing, and policy in a digital-first India.
Our

Vision

Every half a second, a child steps into the online world.

With one in three internet users being a child, it’s crucial to acknowledge that the internet wasn’t initially designed with their needs in mind. This oversight has created a significant gap that PIIR is dedicated to addressing. Our vision is to ensure that children’s rights are fully recognized and protected in the digital age.
